The novel Guy Fawkes first appeared as a serial in Bentley's Miscellany, between January and November It was subsequently published as a three-volume set in Julywith illustrations by George first of William Harrison Ainsworth's seven "Lancashire novels", the story is based on the Gunpowder Plot ofan unsuccessful attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

The book is very easy to read, even for someone like myself who had no prior knowledge of Guy Fawkes. (What got me interested in reading about Guy Fawkes was a result of reading a novel where a little English boy is all excited about Guy Fawkes Day celebrations. I wanted to /5(7).
